Concert hair is to be neat, tidy with no fly away hair. You will need: 

• Hair Brush

• Tail Comb

• Hairspray

• Hair gel / wax / pomade

• Tooth Brush (please purchase one an leave in hair kit)

• Strong hairbands relevant to hair colour

• Bobby Pins relevant to hair colour

• Strong bun pins relevant to hair colour

• 2 x hair nets relevant to hair colour

Concert Hair Requirements 2026

 all dancers must arrive at the theatre with their hair neatly styled and secured according to the requirements below.

 

Female Dancers

Class / Dance Style and Hair Requirements

Pro Tots & Pre-Primary / Primary Ballet                                                   

Neat mid bun with no part. Secure with a hair net and bun pins.

​

Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary & Acro Arts - (all classes unless specified)                                                   

Middle part into a neat mid bun. Secure with a hair net and bun pins.

​

Senior Jazz (Both Dances)                                                                         

Middle part into a neat mid-to-low ponytail.

​

Junior Hip Hop 

Middle part into a neat mid-to-low ponytail. The ponytail must fit through the opening at the back of the dancer's cap.

​

Intermediate Hip Hop

Middle part into two pigtails, styled into a neat bun on each side of the head.

​

Open Hip Hop

Middle part into a neat mid-to-low ponytail.

​

Male Dancers

Hair must be neat and tidy, with gel or styling product used to keep it securely in place throughout the performance.

 

Important Hair Reminders

• All buns must be secured with a hair net and proper bun pins.

• Hair must be smooth and secure, with no loose strands or flyaways.

• Please ensure your dancer arrives with their hair completed and ready for the performance.

• If you are unsure what bun pins are or need assistance with the required hairstyle, please ask an LBDA staff member.
